All submissions are subject to editing. Ongoing DIAPER & WIPES COLLECTION DRIVE First 5 Inyo County is holding a month-long Diaper & Wipes Collection Drive to aid low-income families in Inyo County. Individuals may drop off unopened wipes and diapers of any size at the Clint Quilter Consolidated Office Building lobby, 1360 N. Main St., Bishop. Donors can also opt to purchase from First 5’s online registry, available through Amazon (select “Registry,” input “First 5 Inyo County,” and select “Baby Registry). NIH GIFT SHOP The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, in the lobby of the hospital, is now open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The shop carries a wonderful selection of baby clothes and accessories, unique gifts and is the only place in town that sells See’s Candy. The shop accepts credit cards. SCAMP FOR TEENS (AIRCRAFT CLUB) For teens interested in flying, engineering, aircraft construction and technology, the SCAMP Program is looking for a few more interested teens to help the club build and fly its next airplane. The group has already built most of the Airframs and are getting ready to install the engine and avionics. Club members also go flying where the teens get an opportunity to take the controls of a general aviation aircraft. BISHOP ELEMENTARY CHESS CLUB The newly formed Bishop Elementary School Chess Club is looking for chess sets of all shapes and sizes. FOOTBALL CAMP A football camp for sixth, seventhand eight-graders is scheduled for March 27-March 31 from 3 - 5 p.m. at City Park Field 6 in Bishop; $20 per participant. Packets and fee must be returned to the Community Services Department no later than Thursday, March 23, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18 COFFEE WITH CLIMBING RANGERS Every Saturday the Bishop Area Climbing Rangers will be serving free Black Sheep Coffee at the Pleasant Valley “Pit” Campground from 8 - 10 a.m. Come out and meet the rangers, Matthew and Casey, and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. This program will continue through March. MULE DEER MIGRATION FIELD TRIP Join Eastern Sierra Land Trust’s annual Mule Deer Migration Corridor Field Trip from 10 a.m. - noon. Other Wednesdays are devoted to making crafts for the annual Holiday Boutique. SPAGHETTI DINNER BENEFIT The VFW Auxiliary Post 8988 will be hosting a spaghetti dinner to benefit Joe and Rebecca Bragdon. On March 28, Rebecca will donate her kidney to Joe in a lifesaving surgery held at UCLA. The couple will remain close to UCLA for six to eight weeks for intensive antirejection recovery. Rebecca’s recovery will be two months while Joe’s recovery will be six month. Funds are being raised to maintain their residence and monthly bills in Bishop while also securing a recovery residence in Southern California. All proceeds will be used to relieve the financial strain on the couple during this time. The dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread and a cookie will be served from 4 p.m. until sold out at 484 Short St., Bishop. There also will be a 50/50 raffle, $1 per ticket or six for $5, winner need not be present.
