GREGORY ALAN DRAKE

April 12, 1974 – September 10, 2022

It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden and unexpected death of Greg Drake. He passed from this life into eternal life on September 10, 2022 at his home in Bishop, CA.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Karen Iacopetti Drake along with his parents, Brian and Kathleen Drake of southern California; his brother Michael Drake of Minnesota and a large extended loving family.

Greg’s faith in Jesus Christ was the essential part of his life. He loved the Lord, his family, church, friends and his country. He was dedicated and passionate about reading his Bible everyday – playing Bible trivia with him was very challenging to say the least.

Greg loved his job with Eastern Sierra Transit Authority (Dial-a-Ride) and especially the many friendships he made with his co-workers and passengers. He loved to talk and share his love of life with everyone he met.

He was the sweetest, most kind, courteous, compassionate, generous person you could ever meet, always lending a helping hand whenever he could.

Greg’s hobby for 20 years was restoring his “Smokey and the Bandit” 19V9 TransAm with his dad, Brian. It is a beautiful car. Some have seen it cruising around Bishop, I’m sure.

Greg loved living in Bishop where he could go fishing anytime he wished. He loved coming home with his catch making his favorite meal, “fish tacos.” I can picture him in heaven asking the disciple about their fishing skills and experiences. Greg had lots of stories to tell himself.

Greg found great joy and satisfaction working in his yard and garden. He loved his “hot” peppers and chilenos. He would can them and give them away as gifts.

Greg was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him. Life is not the same without you, Greg. We love you and looking forward to seeing you again in heaven.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor at the Church on the Mountain, 1355 Rocking W Drive, Bishop on October 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow. All are invited.
