A Keeler, California, woman was killed in a single-vehicle rollover in southern Inyo

County on Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 74-year-old woman was travelling westbound SR-136 in a 2000 Ford Explorer east of Dolomite Loop Road at approximately 65 mph, the CHP report states.

For an unknown reason, the woman made an unsafe turning movement to the left. The unsafe turning movement made the vehicle yaw to the left while traveling in a northerly direction (compass direction). She then over corrected the steering to the right, causing the vehicle to yaw to the left while still traveling in a northerly direction. The woman then made an unsafe turning movement to the left. The unsafe turning movement made the vehicle yaw to the left while traveling in a northerly direction. She then over corrected the steering to the right, causing the Explorer to yaw to the left while still traveling in a northerly direction and began a clockwise rotation.

The vehicle ran off the roadway into the open desert as it traveled in a northerly direction. The truck traveled over uneven terrain, causing it to roll over, according to the report. While rolling over, the woman was ejected from the vehicle.

According to the report, the woman later succumbed to her injuries, and was pronounced deceased at Southern Inyo Hospital.

The collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
